In today's climate I feel that an aspect of fantasy is needed in life. With the recession, global warming and basically a bad time for all right now people need some magic and wonder, to bring some happiness to life in the 21st Century. One of these ways is through fashion. Fashion, especially couture has always had a fantasy feel to it. It creates a real wonderland for people to look at and wear to lighten their days. I love creating mystical scenes, going back to a childhood where everything was magical and we had no worries.
December 08 Vogue was dedicated to fantasy fashion. Couture ball gowns are the ultimate way to create fantasy. Ruffles of chiffon and silk reminds me of a princesses gown flowing through a mystical forest. Just like the beautiful Couture Dior gown Kate Moss wears on the 3 page fold out cover. One of the shoots in this Vogue shot by Nick Knight is all about crazy couture outfits. The sheer craziness of them creates a fantasy, almost alien feel to them, making them exciting and fun, even if you can't actually wear them.
